The unemployment rate in Turkey remained at 10.5 percent in in the period of November 2015 including October, November and December, against the previous period.

 

According to Turkstat data released on Feb. 16, number of unemployed persons aged 15 years old and over increased to 3 million 125 thousand persons, by 29 thousand persons.

On the other hand, the unemployment rate dropped by 0.2 percent to 10.5 percent on annual basis. Non-agricultural unemployment rate realized as 12.4 percent with 0.3 percentage point decrease, over the same period.

While youth unemployment rate including 15-24 age group realized at 19.1 percent with 0.8 percentage point decrease, unemployment rate for 15-64 age group occurred as 10.7 percent with 0.2 percentage point decrease, according to Turkstat data.

Number of employed persons aged 15 years old and over increased by 802 thousand persons to 26 million 676 thousand persons in the period of November 2015, compared to the same period of the previous year.

Meanwhile, employment rate rose to 45.8 percent with 0.7 percentage point increase.

Agricultural employment fell by 26 thousand persons and non-agricultural employment increased by 828 thousand persons in this period.

Of those who were employed in this period; 19.3 percent was employed in agriculture, 20.1 percent was employed in industry, 7.5 percent was employed in construction and 53.1 percent was employed in services.

Employment in services increased by 1.1 percentage point while that of agriculture dropped by 0.7 percentage point, industry decreased by 0.3 percentage point and construction fell by 0.1 percentage point against the same period of the previous year.

Labour force rose by 831 thousand persons to 29 million 801 thousand persons within the period of November 2015 compared to the same period of the previous year.

Also, labour force participation rate (LFPR) increased to 51.2 percent with 0.7 percentage point increase.

LFPR was realized as 71.3 percent with 0.3 percentage point increase for male and realized as 31.6 percent with 1.1 percentage point increase for female compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the data.
