High increase rates of agricultural producer prices remained in Jan. while decline on global basis continues.

 

According to the Producer Price Index (PPI) released by Turkstat on Feb. 15, agriculture PPI increased by 3.36 percent on monthly basis, by 8.13 percent on annual basis and 10.77 percent on the twelve months moving averages basis in January.

Prices at agriculture and hunting products rose by 2.97 percent, while prices at forestry products rose by 7.43 percent and at fishing by 13.97 percent, on monthly basis.

Change by previous month, there were increases for non-perennial crops by 3.81 percent, for perennial crops by 4.30 percent and for livestock and animal products by 0.73 percent, according to Turkstat data.

Meanwhile, within sub - agriculture groups, cereals (except rice), leguminous crops and oil seeds increased by 0.53 percent, and for citrus fruits by 2.18 percent respectively. However, fibre plants fell by 1.98 percent.

Prices fall on global basis

On the contrary, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Food Price Index (FFPI) averaged 150.4 points in Jan. 2016, down almost by 1.9 percent from Dec. Thus, global food prices declined by 16 percent by Jan.
